This Morning Star Ben Shephard gives savage FOUR-WORD verdict on Meghan Markle recipe

This Morning presenters Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley have given their thoughts on Meghan Markle’s spaghetti recipe – and the ITV stars weren’t too impressed with it.

Today’s show saw TV chef Clodagh McKenna stop by to rustle up the Duchess of Sussex’s take on pasta, which she walks viewers through on her Netflix show With Love, Meghan.

While Cat and Ben tucked in, Clodagh asked what they thought on the recipe and Ben delivered the brutal words: “A little bit bland.”

“Have a taste of this and just think, ‘Is this a delicious pasta?’ Because if it’s on television, it should be a delicious pasta,” Clodagh said while handing Cat and Ben bowls full of spaghetti.

After a long pause, Ben said: “I hear what you’re saying. The fact that it’s that simple for me is a real advantage. I’m not sure it’s got as much flavour as the things that you would usually make for us.

“Usually the things you make are bursting, you can taste tomatoes, you can taste all the herbs that are going into it. Do you think that it’s a little bit bland?”

Cat added: “A little bit. I’m sure kids would love it though too, which is what she says on the show. But yeah, I would have oven roasted the tomatoes before.”

Clodagh went on to say that she thinks it’s important to reach children about flavour when they’re younger as it encourages them to start cooking. “It entices them to cook and get some understanding about flavours,” she said.

The stars didn’t completely pan the Duchess’ recipe however, with Ben saying: “The pasta is cooked brilliantly, the spaghetti is fantastic,” Ben said. “If you make little tweaks along the way, I think it would make a difference but I enjoyed it.” While Cat added: “Excellent experiment, Clodagh.”

Earlier this week, fans took to social media to point out how This Morning appeared to be referencing the Danny Jones and Maura Higgins’ kiss scandal with a phone-in segment. Yesterday, Cat and Ben invited viewers to call in with their problems – and to give their take on whether a drunken kiss counts as cheating.

“Now here’s a question for you – does a drunken kiss on a night out count as cheating on a partner?” Ben told the camera. Cat added: “Lots of headlines in the news about this right now but are you grappling with the issue in your own relationship? If you are, Dr. Linda is here to help.”
