What You’ll Need:
A healthy citrus branch (4–6 inches long)
A fresh potato or banana slice (optional rooting hack)
Sharp knife or pruners
Small pot with soil
Glass of water
Plastic container (to use as a mini greenhouse)
Step-by-Step Process:
1. Choose a Healthy Cutting
Pick a green, firm stem with at least 2–3 leaves. Make a clean cut below a node (where leaves grow from the stem).
2. Use a Potato or Banana (Optional)
Stick the bottom of your cutting into a piece of potato or banana. These provide moisture and nutrients, and can encourage rooting.
3. Hydrate the Cutting
Place the cutting in a glass of water for a day or two to keep it hydrated before planting.
4. Plant the Cutting
Insert the cutting (with or without the potato/banana) into moist potting soil. Make sure at least one node is buried.
5. Create a Mini Greenhouse
Cover the pot with a clear plastic bag or bottle to trap humidity. Place it in a warm, bright spot—but out of direct sunlight.
6. Wait and Water
Keep the soil moist—not soggy. In a few weeks, roots will start to grow!
Bonus Tips:
Use rooting hormone if you have it—it helps speed up the process.
Once roots are strong and leaves start growing, transfer the cutting to a larger pot.
Water regularly and enjoy watching your baby tree thrive!
