Netflix confirms With Love, Meghan is getting a second series despite mixed reviews

Meghan Markle and Netflix have officially confirmed the future of With Love, Meghan, with the former Suits star sharing an exciting update on her Instagram.

Following the success of her Netflix series, Meghan Markle has made a major announcement.

The Duchess of Sussex took to Instagram to reveal that With Love, Meghan will return for a second season. Sharing a video on her Stories, she excitedly wrote: “Lettuce romaine calm… or not (!) because I’m thrilled to share that Season 2 of ‘With Love, Meghan’ is coming!”

The first season, which premiered on Tuesday, had initially been delayed from its January release due to the Los Angeles wildfires. In a statement shared by Netflix on Friday night, it was revealed that filming for the second season has already been completed.

The news of another installment may come as a surprise to some, given the wave of negative reviews from critics earlier this week.

The series, produced by Meghan, reimagines the genre of lifestyle programming, blending practical how-to’s and candid conversation with friends, new and old. Meghan shares personal tips and tricks, embracing playfulness over perfection and highlights how easy it can be to create beauty, even in the unexpected. She and her guests roll up their sleeves in the kitchen, the garden, and beyond, and invite you to do the same.

Earlier this week, Meghan introduced As ever, her lifestyle brand dedicated to beautifully crafted essentials. Developed in partnership with Netflix, the brand showcases a collection of products, personally developed by Meghan, over the past year, having been honed over years of home cooking and entertaining.

Meghan appeared on Drew Barrymore’s chat show in the US on Thursday to promote her lifestyle series and brand, and at one point during a baking segment, she was spotted moving a jar of her As Ever jam into the centre of the shot. Meghan chatted about her “funniest, sweetest, most charming” husband, the Duke of Sussex and told Barrymore their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, have “very American accents” but say the word “zebra” with a British pronunciation.

She was introduced to the audience by Drew as “Meghan Sussex” after having corrected comedian Mindy Kaling during her Netflix show for referring to her surname as Markle. Meghan, who was welcomed to the stage by her Hollywood actress host with a big, long hug, joked about Barrymore’s well-known touchy-feely approach, saying: “I’ve heard you like to connect.”

The Never Been Kissed and Charlie’s Angels star asked the duchess as they sat on the sofa together: “I’m such a warm person, and I love affection. How do you feel about that?” Meghan replied: “We missed human connection, certainly after the pandemic and everything else, we crave being able to go ‘Hi’ and like ‘My friend, are you here?” and to really be able to hold and touch and embrace someone.”

During the chat, Drew showed the duchess a photo of herself with Harry’s late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales. The presenter appeared emotional as she clutched a framed black and white photo of herself as a seven-year-old presenting the princess with a cuddly toy version of ET at the premiere of the hit movie in Leicester Square in 1982.

She told Meghan that Diana was “such an incredible human being that transcended everything” and said meeting her was the “honour of my life”. Meghan replied: “That’s beautiful. Oh my gosh. Look at your little face. Oh, that’s so sweet. That is so special that you had it here…”
