The Minnesota Timberwolves came alive in Game 1 against the Los Angeles Lakers, building up a lead as large as 27 points. With four players scoring in double digits, they secured a dominant 117–95 victory — and of course, Magic Johnson had something to say about it.
“The Minnesota Timberwolves dominated the Lakers in every category, winning 117–95 tonight (April 19),” Johnson posted on X. “They were more physical, more athletic, quicker, and got every loose ball. Edwards was solid with 22 points, but it was Jaden McDaniels’ offense and defense that made the difference. He finished with 25 points and 9 rebounds.”

Even though LeBron James scored 19 points and Luka Doncic had only one assist, Magic Johnson didn’t blame them for the Lakers’ first loss against the Timberwolves. So, who did he point the finger at?
“Coach JJ Redick did a great job all season, but he didn’t do a good job in Game 1. The Lakers’ offense became stagnant, they played too much one-on-one basketball, and he didn’t make the necessary adjustments,” said the Lakers legend on X.
