Former Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher, who has transitioned into farming, recently shared some insights into his new rural life and admitted to feeling “panicked” about certain aspects.
The 41-year-old also gave an update on his relationship with his wife and co-star of Fletcher’s Family Farm, Elizabeth Marsland, acknowledging their differences.
Speaking on the Who We Are Now podcast with Izzy and Richard Hammond, Fletcher confessed his anxiety over a weather-related issue at his farm. He said: “I’ve just had a message, there’s quite a bit of snow at home and I’ve already been panicking because I moved the cows into a different field and I’ve the got ring feeder out and the sheep, there’s no hay out for them.”

Fortunately, a neighbour was able to assist by providing hay for his sheep.
The former Strictly Come Dancing participant also discussed his marriage to Elizabeth Marsland, whom he met when they were both eight years old. He said: “We’re very different, if something’s red, Liz will say it’s blue, but that’s just the way that we are. Maybe that’s why we’re compatible, I don’t know. We’ve certainly got a history together and an understanding.”
However, he quipped a retraction as he amusingly confessed: “No actually, like most other married couples you still don’t understand the other person, do you?”
Kelvin Fletcher made his way into the spotlight back in 1994 with his role in the ITV crime drama ‘Cracker’. This was followed by appearances in series such as ‘Chiller’ and a short stint on Coronation Street,
However, the pinnacle of his acting career came when he secured the role of Andy Sugden in Emmerdale in 1996. After enjoying two decades on the show, he decided to bid farewell to his character in 2016. And, three years after leaving the show, he managed to make it all the way to the final and claim the top prize alongside Oti Mabuse on Strictly Come Dancing.
Since leaving Emmerdale, Kelvin has pursued a farming career, alongside his wife Elizabeth, which is documented in their ITV series ‘Fletcher’s Family Farm’, showcasing their life on their 120-acre farm in Macclesfield.
