Fans of Breaking Bad star Giancarlo Esposito may want to act fast if they plan to watch his gripping revenge thriller before it leaves Netflix UK. The actor, best known for playing Gus Fring in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, leads the six-part crime drama Parish as a grieving father determined to seek justice for his son.

Originally released on AMC in 2024, the series was developed by Danny Brocklehurst and is based on the British drama The Driver, which starred David Morrissey in the lead role. In the American adaptation, Esposito plays Gracián “Gray” Parish, a former criminal trying to leave his troubled past behind.

After abandoning his life of crime to run a limousine business, Gray is pulled back into the underworld following the brutal murder of his son and the collapse of his company. His search for answers soon places him on a dangerous path that brings him face-to-face with a ruthless criminal syndicate.

The series is currently streaming on Netflix UK, but viewers may not have much time left to watch it. Parish has been labeled “leaving soon” on the platform, making it a good candidate for a quick binge before it disappears.

Described by Rotten Tomatoes as an “adrenaline-charged” thriller, the show holds a 73% audience score, though critics were far less enthusiastic. The series earned a 36% critics rating, with some reviews calling it “a cobbled-together journey with no distinct destination” and a “joyless retread.”

Even among mixed reviews, however, many critics praised the show’s visual style and Giancarlo Esposito’s performance. One review from Salon noted that while the material may not always live up to his abilities, Esposito remains the standout reason to watch.

Under the Radar was similarly critical of the writing, arguing that the show’s weak story and dialogue stand out even more because of its polished visuals and stylish direction.

Despite the mixed reception, Parish features a strong cast alongside Giancarlo Esposito, including Skeet Ulrich, Amanda Brugel, Zackary Momoh and Paula Malcomson.
