Dear Coronation Street. Any chance we can give Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) a break? Apparently not. His abusive husband Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) may be dead, but a face from the monsterâs past is about to return the Cobbles to drop a bombshell on Toddâs head.
Toddâs nightmare at the hands of his tormentor seemed like it might go on forever.
Every time he tried to escape the violence and the vitirol, Theo would turn on the waterworks, give him excuses and lure him back with false promises, until the toxic cycle started afresh.
A particularly brutal beating forced Todd to confront the reality and report Theo to the police. But Theo wouldnât take no for an answer and returned to torment Todd further. After a nail-biting final showdown between victim and abuser, Theo lay dead on the cobbles, killed by a mystery attacker.
Now Toddâs in the frame for Theoâs murder, along with his closest friends,George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley),  Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins) and Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) â not to mention Theoâs former friend and local antihero Gary Windass (Mikey North).
But thereâs one suspect who is definitely not Toddâs friend. Theoâs ex wife Danielle Silverton (Natalie Anderson)
Danielle didnât have the best introduction to Todd on her first trip to Weatherfield â mainly because Theo came out as gay and ended their marriage to be with him.
Since they had two children together, Miles and Millie, Danielle had every reason to be furious and even seduced Toddâs brother Jason Grimshaw (Ryan Thomas) just to humiliate him and Theo.
This did not go well. Danielle reacted badly and was highly offended to be asked such a personal question by a total stranger. Unfortunately, Sarah didnât have time to pursue the line of questioning, as they were interrupted by Theo and Todd.
Danielle was invited back to the Cobbles by Toddâs bestie Sarah Platt (Tina OâBrien), started to suspect that her friend was a victim of domestic abuse and delicately questioned Danielle to see if Theo had ever been violent towards her.
Danielle was furious at the implication â without denying it. But before Sarah could do damage control, Todd and Theo arrived.
Now, as Theoâs murder investigation implicates one of Toddâs closest friends, Danielle returns to Weatherfield in upcoming episodes to tear his life apart with a shock allegation.
As Todd tells Sarah he wonât be attended Theoâs funeral, things only get worse when Danielle shows up and publicly accuses Todd of murdering Theo for his life insurance money.
When Mary Taylor (Patti Clare) comes to Toddâs defence and suggests she perhaps murdered Theo herself, Danielle storms out in a huff.
Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) follows Danielle out and reveals that he recalls her near the scene of the crime on the night of the murder!
Was Danielle right about Todd? Did he murder Theo for a fresh start with the life insurance money⊠or is that just what Danielle wants people to think?
