Fans of Alaskan Bush People are rallying around the Brown family following the heartbreaking news of Matt Brown’s death, which was publicly confirmed on Saturday, May 30. The former reality TV star, who appeared on the Discovery series from 2014 until 2019, was 43 years old.
Matt’s brother, Solomon Isaiah “Bear” Brown, first shared the tragic update in a TikTok video posted that same day.
“There’s an update about Matt,” Bear told followers. “They found a body in the river a few hours ago, and it was positively identified as being Matt.”

Shortly afterward, their younger brother Noah Brown posted an emotional video of his own, revealing that he had personally helped search for Matt and was there when the body was recovered.
“It’s late, and I have some bad news … It’s been a long day,” Noah said in the Instagram clip. “For the past couple days, I’ve been working with search and rescue groups trying to locate the body. And today, the group that I was working with located the missing body, and I identified it as Matthew.”

“My oldest brother, Matthew Brown, has passed away,” he added.
Noah went on to explain that he was present during the recovery effort and helped pull Matt’s body from the river.
“We hauled him up off the bank,” Noah said. “And then, after the sheriffs got there and everything, the coroner did his thing, and I went down to identify that it was him.”
“It’s definitely Matthew,” he continued. “His ID and Social Security card was on him, and I was able to visually identify that it was Matthew.”

The emotional reality star also thanked friends, loved ones and fans who had been reaching out to support the family during the devastating time.
Noah shared that he had received “a lot of phone calls” and had not yet been able to respond to everyone personally, hoping the video would help inform those who cared about Matt.
“I am sincerely sorry that I wasn’t able to tell you personally,” he said. “And for all the fans of the show and everything, I’m sorry that it came down to this of finding out.”
Authorities have not yet released full details surrounding Matt’s death, though more information is expected once the official police and coroner reports are completed.
Meanwhile, fans of the Brown family have flooded Noah’s comment section with heartfelt condolences and messages of support.
“Man, I loved his laugh on television. I’m sorry for your loss, brother,” one fan wrote.
“I am so so sorry… You guys have faced so much tragedy. You poor mother Ami has to be devastated…” another commented.
Others praised Noah for the compassion and grace he showed while speaking publicly about his brother.
“It’s okay if you don’t know what to say, you’ve lost your brother,” one supporter wrote. “No need to find the right words or best time for a video in this time of grief.”
Another fan added, “Thank you for not saying anything bad about him. He was your big brother and he loved you.”
“So sorry for your loss and that you had to go through that painful experience,” another message read.
