The family of a teenager who was found dead after getting into difficulty in a river in Warwickshire have said they are “completely devastated” by her death.
Emergency services were called on Bank Holiday Monday (May 25), just before 6.10pm, following reports that a young girl had got into difficulty after jumping into the River Tame in Warwickshire. Searches were conducted and the body of 16-year-old Lillianna Tomlinson was recovered near Kingsbury Water Park shortly afterwards, Coventry Live reports.
In a statement issued by Warwickshire Police, the family of Lillianna said: “We are deeply saddened to be writing that her life has been taken in the most tragic way. Our family is completely devastated and will be forever heartbroken.

“We would like to take a moment to sincerely thank our community for the love, compassion and support that has been shown to us, and for sharing in our grief. It means more than words can express.
“During this incredibly difficult time, we kindly ask for privacy while we come to terms with what has happened.”
Lillianna’s tragic death comes as at least 15 people died across the UK after getting into trouble in open water amid days of hot weather. The Royal Life Saving Society issued a plea during the heatwave for everyone to “stop and think” before getting into the water in response to the deaths, most of whom were children.
A spokesman for the RNLI said: “While the air temperature is warm, the seas are still cold and cold water shock remains a very real risk. With many school children enjoying half term, the lifesaving charity is urging everyone to stay safe.”
‘Forever 16. Forever in our hearts’ – Mum’s tribute to tragic teenager who died at Midlands water park
A fundraiser has been set up for teenager Lillianna Tomlinson who died at Kingsbury Water Park on Monday.
The 16-year-old pupil at Kingsbury School, Tamworth entered the River Tame, close to the water park in Staffordshire last Monday and got into difficulties – despite attempts to save her she was found dead in the water.
Now her friend Ria’s mother Jayne Roberts has paid tribute to her on a Go Fund Me page which has already raised over £1,800 towards a target of £4.5k to help with funeral costs, memorial expenses and ‘to give her the beautiful farewell she deserves.’

She said: “ Lil was a bright, kind, and caring young girl who touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She had a beautiful smile, a loving heart, and a way of making people feel seen and valued.
“She brought laughter, friendship, and joy to so many, and her loss has left an unimaginable void in the lives of her family, friends, and everyone fortunate enough to know her.
“For my daughter, Lil was more than a best friend— she was a sister in spirit, a confidante, and a constant source of support and happiness.

“The memories they shared will be treasured forever. As we come together to honour Lil’s life and support her family during this devastating time, we are raising funds to help with funeral expenses, memorial costs, and to give her the beautiful farewell she deserves.
“Any donation, no matter how small, will be deeply appreciated. If you are unable to contribute financially, please consider sharing this page and keeping Lil’s family and friends in your thoughts.

“Though her life was far too short, Lil’s impact was immeasurable. She will be loved, remembered, and missed every single day.
