A teenage barrel racer has been arrested after allegedly stabbing three competition horses during a Las Vegas rodeo event, leaving the animals injured and the equestrian community in shock.
The incident took place at the 2026 NBHA Professional’s Choice Vegas Super Show at the South Point Arena & Equestrian Center, where police from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded shortly after 2 a.m. after reports of an injured horse inside a barn area.

When officers arrived, they discovered three horses that investigators said had been “intentionally injured with a sharp object.” Authorities later identified a teenage competitor, whose name has not been released because she is a minor, as a suspect, and believe she may have used a knife after gaining access to the barn where the horses were kept.
The injuries were described as serious but not life-threatening, though veterinarians indicated the horses are expected to miss competition and will require recovery time due to both physical wounds and trauma.

One of the injured horses, a well-known competitor named Saaul Good, also known as “Sully,” was reportedly stabbed multiple times. His owner, rider Hailey Krahenbuhl, said he was stitched up and is now recovering. Another horse, a mare named Detail owned by competitor Arielle Phillips, was found injured and frightened inside the barn and required veterinary treatment and stitches, while a third horse, Foxy, narrowly avoided injury.

Phillips later alleged the suspect had previously attempted to contact her repeatedly and described her as an “obsessed stalker,” claiming she had seen the teen near the barn shortly before the attack.

She said that moments after leaving her horse’s stall, the animal was attacked, later running through the barn in panic and bleeding heavily. Phillips described the aftermath as emotionally devastating, saying Detail is now traumatized and fearful of human contact.

Police later tracked the suspect to a nearby hotel, where she was taken into custody and transported to Clark County Juvenile Hall. She has been booked on multiple felony charges, including 12 counts of willful or malicious injury, maiming or torture of an animal, along with additional counts related to property damage.

The National Barrel Horse Association described the incident as an isolated case involving the mistreatment of a limited number of horses by an event participant, confirming that the individual has been removed and that there is no ongoing threat. Another young competitor said she was shocked to learn the identity of the suspect, calling the situation frightening in what is usually a close-knit community.

A fundraising campaign was launched shortly after the incident to help cover veterinary costs for the injured horses, quickly gaining thousands of dollars in donations as riders, fans, and supporters rallied around the animals and their owners, while updates continue to focus on both their physical recovery and the emotional impact of the attack.

Police said detectives later tracked the suspect to a nearby hotel, where she was taken into custody before being transported to Clark County Juvenile Hall.
