Coronation Street fans think DC Kit Green’s downfall won’t be happening any time soon, even after he was the one to arrest Mal Roper over his attempts to burn down Roy’s Rolls with Roy Cropper inside.

There were recently dramatic scenes in the ITV soap when the Weatherfield stalwart’s life was left hanging in the balance as a crazed Mal set his business and home alight.

Roy had headed out with his niece, Nina Lucas, to a bat convention but after feeling unwell during the trip, he returned home to find the cafe had no electricity. Making the decision to close up early, Roy sent Jodie Ramsey off home and headed to bed to try and sleep off his sickness.

But it meant he was completely unaware of Mal’s horrific actions. As Roy lay in his bed, Mal let himself into the cafe and set the place alight. Outside, Bernie, her husband Dev Alahan, and neighbour Brian Packham watched on as dark plumes of smoke billowed out of the cafe flat’s windows and a smoke alarm blared.

Soon, Jodie appeared and, realising what was going on, she rushed towards the cafe and let herself in, explaining Roy had returned early and was inside. She found Mal inside, who didn’t appear to know Roy was upstairs, and the pair ended up dragging him out of the burning building. He was quickly scooped up by Carla and a paramedic and he was later seen in the hospital, with Carla Connor holding vigil at his bedside.

During the follow-up visit to Weatherfield on Monday (April 13), Roy was joined by Carla, Nina and Lisa Swain as Bernie Winter paid a visit. He was worried about where he and Nina would live, with Carla quick to reassure him they could move in to No.6 until they get back on their feet.

While Carla helped Roy return to the street following his hospital discharge, her fiancee Lisa was seen heading to the station. Kit was surprised to see Lisa on her day off, and she made her invested interest clear on the fire, with a colleague having interviewed Mal earlier that day.

Lisa pointed out that Mal had accused Kit of being the one behind his attack last month, and while viewers know it to be true, Kit was quick to point out that Mal had also blamed Dev Alahan for the attack, and that he was just trying to target anyone close to Bernie Winter.

While Lisa said their colleague agreed, she didn’t. “Just because Browning’s convinced, doesn’t mean I am,” she told him. Kit was quick to stick to his story, but it was clear that Lisa wasn’t willing to let it go, something Corrie fans were quick to pick up on.

@agf1052 said: “GET HIM LISA #Corrie.” @snationed fumed: “Get him, Lisa! Kit needs to be in the lineup because I’ve had enough of him. #Corrie.” @ashasmushtuk commented: “Lisa swain leaning over kit giving him the dead eyes, get him gal.”

But @DrSwarla2025 shared: “Lisa knows something doesn’t add up with the whole Mal stuff, but Mal is unreliable with him changing his story so many times and now setting fire to the cafe, Kit will getaway with it i don’t get what the point of the storyline is or was.#corrie.” @Fake_TV_Chef added: “Lisa, I say this with love, but you really need to drop this one. Going after Kit right now just isn’t worth it. It wasn’t even the ‘assault’—if you can even call it that—that put Mal in the hospital; it was a heart attack. For your own sake, just let it go. #Swarla #Corrie.”
