While Niall Horan had to sit out after being ordered to vocal rest by his doctors earlier in the week, Michael and the season’s two other coaches, Reba McEntire and Snoop Dogg, hit the stage without him.
However, many fans were taken aback by Michael’s performance, with many claiming he “sounded off” and not like his usual self.
“Michael Buble’s a great singer, but those Journey songs sounded rough,” one person wrote on X.

“He seemed like that last night too, this is the first season i’ve watched where he’s coach so i can’t tell if he’s just like that or something is up,” a second replied.
“He’s not normally like this to this extent… He could be sick too,” speculated a third.
“Was Buble’s tongue swollen? He was really off,” asked a fourth.
“Buble sounded kinda strange on his riff,” chimed in a fifth.
“Was Bublé super emotional?? Is this for real his last season ever??” added a sixth, mentioning Michael’s remark the night before about this being his last season on the show.
The Haven’t Met You Yet singer made the off-hand comment while praising his finalist, Jazz McKenzie’s performance during the first installment of the two-part finale.
“I wrote you last night, I told you you are the light … this is it. This is my last time here,” Michael shared while holding back tears.
“I leave this show, and let me tell you, Jazz McKenzie, what a way to go. You are perfect.”

It’s already been confirmed that Michael won’t return to his red chair next season, as Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and Adam Levine will take over for a Battle of the Champions season.
