The rodeo community remains in a state of profound shock following the “freak accident” that took the life of 3-year-old Oaklynn. In the wake of the tragedy, those close to the family reveal that Oaklynn’s mother has been obsessively reviewing footage from that day, pausing the video at the exact millisecond everything changed.

Rodeo star Kelsie Domer and her husband, Ryan, are mourning the death of their 3-year-old daughter, Oaklynn Rae.

Oaklynn died on Thursday, Feb. 19, according to an obituary shared by Harrell Funeral Home and the Lanman Funeral Home.

She was killed in a “freak” incident involving one of the family’s horses, when the animal fell onto her and her mom, according to Rodeo Lifemagazine.

Taste of Country also reported that Oaklynn died in an accident involving a horse.

Both Kelsie and Ryan have shared social media posts regarding their daughter’s death.

Kelsie — who is a 10-time Women’s Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA) world champion — shared on Facebook that “Be The Light” pink memorial caps are available to buy in Oaklynn’s memory.

She also reposted rodeo journalist Kendra Santos’ tribute, which included funeral details. Ryan shared the posts, as well as the obituary, on Facebook.

Oaklynn’s memorial will be held on Thursday, Feb. 26, in Dublin, Texas, with a graveside service on Friday, Feb. 27, in Cherokee, Okla.

“Oaklynn packed a lot in her short time with us,” her obituary read. “Traveling the rodeo circuit all over the U.S., hitting the practice pen with mom and dad, and loving her family with all her heart.”

“She loved frogs, horses, everybody’s puppies, going to ‘yodeos,’ and hanging out with all her friends. She did not know a stranger and lit up the room the minute she made her grand entrance,” her obituary added.

Company Simply Equine & K9 was among those paying tribute to Oaklynn on social media. Kelsie has been a team member there for years, according to the company’s website.

“Our hearts are shattered beyond words,” the company shared alongside an Instagram montage showing Oaklynn with animals and her family.

“Sweet Oaklynn gained her angel wings far too soon. Please continue praying for Kelsie, Ryan, her family and everyone that loved this precious soul,” their caption added.

Kelsie also reposted a tribute from rancher and roper Haley Sage Wright saying that their family had their “pink on for Oaklynn !!”

“Pink in honor of the toughest little cowgirl,” Haley added, alongside an angel wing and white love heart emoji.
